Luke Thompson — Avon High School · Avon Chamber of Commerce

Luke Thompson’s internship with the Avon Chamber of Commerce gave him a daily look at the professional world. His work included managing social media, writing captions, supporting community events, and helping with content for the Chamber’s Business Brief Series.

Luke says no two days are alike. He met business owners, community leaders, and elected officials, and built a network that helped him think about his future in new ways. His experience at the Chamber sparked an interest in political science alongside his longstanding interest in real estate.

Mentors in the community offered guidance and encouragement. Luke plans to begin college at Ivy Tech, with long-term goals in public service and law enforcement.

Looking back, Luke says he wishes he had started Work-Based Learning sooner. His story shows how a local internship can build practical skills, confidence, and connections that last.
