Ava — Plainfield High School · Lifeline Christian Missions
Ava’s internship with Plainfield-based Lifeline Christian Missions introduced her to people and work beyond her usual routines. The nonprofit supports communities around the world through hunger relief and humanitarian aid.
Through the internship, Ava practiced communication, empathy, and collaboration. She spoke to community leaders, shared updates with Lifeline staff, and took responsibility for organizing a community meal-packing event, including fundraising, recruiting volunteers, and coordinating the event.
Ava says the team made her feel welcomed and supported. She plans to attend Purdue as a direct-admit nursing student, and sees the communication and relationship skills she developed as important to her future.
Lifeline’s experience shows how a nonprofit can offer meaningful hands-on learning while contributing to its mission. The organization also plans to connect Ava with an eight-week leadership development cohort.
